Much of the valley is wooded. The woods, like the stream, are their own world. Again and again I found myself using the word 'structural' to describe what I love about them. Footpaths become the nave of a tree cathedral, flanked by pillared trunks, roofed with a fan vaulting of branches and painted in new colours every season.
