For me, the buzzard is the iconic bird of Slad Valley. Weather moves rapidly through the valley and the skies can change from moment to moment. But while I was walking, the presence of a buzzard somewhere above me, or sometimes in a tree nearby, was a near-constant. And I began thinking: how does the valley look when your natural element is the air and your pathways are thermals, your resting places the tops of trees and telegraph poles?
